JENNY SHE
Masterpiece Intern
Jenny is a 2nd-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine.
She was born and raised in Michigan and attended Rice University for her undergraduate. Throughout college, she worked as a Medical Assistant for multiple dermatology clinics, taking care of general dermatology as well as allergic contact dermatitis patients. During her time as an MA, she was able to help many children and their families who lived with skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, and alopecia areata. These children shared that they often felt isolated and ostracized amongst peers. After connecting deeply with these stories, she was motivated to join Made a Masterpiece and support its mission of helping empower children living with skin conditions and promoting a more aware, inclusive society!
In her free time, Jenny loves to try new Houston restaurants and coffee (or matcha!) shops, take pilates classes, and ski.

Updates & Happenings
We love our community with skin conditions, and we hope you enjoy our updates.

Our History

We were initially founded by Dr. Alanna Bree as A Children’s House for the Soul (ACHFTS) on May 19, 2014, and we received our IRS 501c3 nonprofit status on February 10, 2015.
We held our first event in January 2016, and until 2023, we touched countless lives by helping those with skin conditions and birthmarks feel validated and understood so they could face their challenges with acceptance, positive awareness, and coping strategies that led to empowerment and advocacy.
We also raised awareness about skin conditions through educational initiatives to help make the world a more understanding, accepting, and loving place for those affected with skin conditions.
In less than a decade, we achieved much with our small but mighty team that was led by Lindsay O’Sullivan who wore many hats and was a guiding light in our organization. Through her passion and expertise as a certified child life specialist, she positively impacted so many children and families.

Developed and expanded programming with 5 annual events and many other special events that united and encouraged over 750 children and family members impacted by skin conditions and birthmarks.

Raised awareness through our “I Was Made A Masterpiece” campaign that has been viewed and participated in by over 10,000 people through our social media platforms.

Created custom-made gowns for an amazing Fashion Show & Tell during the NYC gallery opening of Positive Exposure in front of a sold-old crowd that garnered national news coverage on CBS This Morning

Launched our “Love The Skin You Are In” school program that has educated over 2,000 students in the Greater Houston area about compassion for those with visible differences

Participated in the “Body As A Work of Art” exhibition at The Health Museum with over 40,000 visitors viewing our photographic exhibit that was displayed for 12 months.

Produced a short FRAME film in collaboration with Rick Guidotti of Positive Exposure that premiered in Houston and NYC with over 5,000 views that serves as an education tool for our community and medical professionals throughout the US

Collaborated with CeraVe to produce our Skin Discovery Box that included 7 skillfully crafted activities designed around skin health and awareness that were distributed to students in Houston area schools and nationally to pediatricians and dermatologists to share with their patients.

Broke ground on a one-of-a-kind property that provided a safe and healing space for our community that included a children’s play area, art room, salon, library, teen hangout area, and mentorship meal space, and it was a blessing to all who entered our orange doors.

Supported by many selfless and generous champions and friends who gave of their time and their treasures to serve alongside of us and bring our mission and vision to life for those with skin conditions.
We are so grateful for all of those who played a part in authoring our story as ACHFTS. But even the best of stories must come to an end, and the end of one story is the beginning of another. In this age of electronic connections and technology that brings us together, we are hopeful that Made A Masterpiece will reach even more children and teens with skin conditions nationally and internationally as we strive to become the authoritative voice on the social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of living with visibly special skin. It is our aim that through our support all those living with skin conditions will come to know that they were Made A Masterpiece.
